[Vol 1] A Romantic Comedy About Flirting and Getting Married to a Popular Voice Actress Prologue

Prologue

June, 2025.

The excitement inside the event hall of the International Exhibition Center was reaching its peak.

“Everyone~! Are you all having fun!?”

『Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!』

At the cheerful call from Aizaki Yuka—better known as Ai-chan—hundreds of fans responded with overwhelming enthusiasm.

Today was the special event celebrating the second season of the anime 『Kimi to Mita Sora,』 in which she played the heroine.

To everyone in the audience, Ai-chan was someone to look up to. She was the top voice actress of the moment—appearing in countless anime, invited to every event, and every time she released a CD, it shot straight to number one on the monthly charts. That was who she was.

In fact, although several other popular voice actors stood on the stage, the cheers for Ai-chan were by far the loudest.

And as for me—Shidou Kanata, her manager—I watched her from the wings of the stage as she kept the event running smoothly.

“Alright then, it’s finally time for today’s main event! Let’s show everyone the special footage! Guess what! We’ll be premiering Season 2 of 『Kimizora』 ahead of release!”

『Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!!』

As Ai-chan delivered the exciting announcement, the crowd roared once again.

“And that’s not all! We won’t just be showing the footage—we, the main cast members right here, will be doing a live dubbing session! Everyone, let’s give it our all together!”

Her fellow voice actors responded to her energetic call.

“Of course! I won’t lose to you, Ai-chan~! I’m going to steal every single one of your fans here today~!”

“Ahaha. Nene-chan, that’s impossible. My fans are all well-trained—they wouldn’t even glance at anyone other than me!”

“Uu... I’m nervous... I wonder if I can do it well... Will I be okay...?”

“Rinrin, you’ll be fine! Don’t worry! Just do it like we practiced—well, though you do tend to get a lot of retakes, huh~?”

“Geez! Ai-chan, that’s mean~!”

The lighthearted banter between the voice actors made the audience burst into laughter.

The atmosphere in the hall was just right—lively and warm. Not missing the moment, Ai-chan raised her voice with confidence.

“Alright then, let’s get started! Live dubbing session—let’s go!”

Several hours later. The 『Kimizora』 event came to an end in great success. After finishing up all the cleanup and other tasks, I waited quietly for Ai-chan in her dressing room.

Before long, the door opened.

“Ah, Manager! So you were here!?”

With a bright, refreshed smile that said she’d given it her all, Ai-chan burst into the room. Then, without hesitation, she ran straight into my arms.

“Manager, great job today! Ahh, I was so nervous out there!”

“Good work, Ai-chan. The stage went really well. The live dubbing too—you did great, and the audience was thrilled.”

“Really!? I’m so glad! But it’s all thanks to you, Manager. Because of all the preparation, direction, and advice you gave us, we were able to give it our best.”

“No… I didn’t really do much. Everything went well thanks to your hard work as one of the cast. You should be proud of yourself.”

“R-Really…? Ehehe… Hearing you say that makes me a little embarrassed…”

Ai-chan’s cheeks turned pink as she gave a shy smile. I told her, “You did great,” and gently patted her head. Then, suddenly, she leaned close to my ear.

“Then… can I have a reward for working so hard…?”

“A reward…?”

“Yeah. Please? Manager.”

Saying that, Ai-chan closed her eyes and slightly puckered her lips.

That gesture made her wish perfectly clear. I lightly placed my hand on her shoulder and softly pressed my lips against hers…

“Nn… ehehe… thank you, Manager—no… Kanata…”

Still blushing, Ai-chan looked at me with a bashful, radiant smile.

Or rather, I should call her Yuka now… At this moment, I didn’t want to see her as the famous voice actress, but as a woman.

“Hey, Yuka… a reward like that isn’t enough for you, right?”

“Eh…?”

Yuka blinked in surprise at my sudden question.

“Actually, I have one more thing prepared. A reward from me, for all your hard work today…”

“Really!? Yay! What is it!?”

Yuka’s eyes sparkled with excitement. Then, in front of her, I suddenly dropped to one knee.

“Huh…? K-Kanata…? What are you doing…!?”

Yuka’s eyes widened in shock at my unexpected action.

Ignoring that, I began to speak.

“Yuka… you really did great today. To honor all your hard work, I want to give you this.”

Still kneeling, I pulled out a small box from my pocket. Opening the lid with a soft click, I held it out toward her.

Inside was—a ring. A genuine diamond ring.

“Yuka… please, accept this. It’s how I truly feel.”

“Eh… no way…? This means…!”

Yuka stared at my face, as if trying to confirm something.

Meeting her gaze, I nodded.

“Aizaki Yuka… will you marry me?”

With the ring still in my hand, I bowed my head. A real, honest proposal.

I’d decided that if today’s event was a success, I would finally do it. And now, I had made up my mind. In response to my confession, Yuka—

“……”

—didn’t answer right away.

“...Yuka…?”

Growing anxious, I lifted my head. And what I saw was—Yuka in tears.

“Y-Yuka…!?”

Why!? Was she crying because she hated the proposal that much!?

Just as I panicked and started to stand up, Yuka suddenly threw her arms around me again.

“Kanata… thank you…! I love you too! I really, truly love you…!”

“Y-Yuka…! Then that means—”

“Yeah… let’s get married… okay?”

At those words, a feeling of happiness stronger than anything I’d ever known overflowed within me. I was so happy, I almost wanted to shout it out loud.

“Hey, Kanata… since we’re here already, can you… put it on for me? The ring…”

“A-Ah! Of course! Then, your left hand…”

“Yeah… thank you. Please…?”

I gently took her offered left hand. Then slowly, I slid the engagement ring onto her ring finger. We savored this precious moment together—the most important time of our lives.

Ah… with this, I’m finally bound to her…

Thinking back, so much had happened between us. From the day I met her as a rookie voice actress, we had faced countless hardships and grown together.

It was probably because we shared all those difficult days side by side… that I was able to end up like this, together with Yuka—the woman I’d always admired, my favorite voice actress, and the one I loved.

Before I knew it, as I slipped the ring onto her finger, memories of our past together began to fill my mind.
